Welcome to Dysautonomia Decoded!

Who am I? I’m Dr. Megan Ritson, a neuroscientist with a passion for making complex science actually readable. I have a Master’s in Applied Biology and a PhD in Neuroscience.

Why I Started This In 2023, my partner was finally diagnosed with PoTS after a three year battle to be believed and understood. Watching that journey, the confusion, the dismissal, the desperate googling at 2am, made one thing very clear to me: the science exists, but almost none of it is written for the people who actually need it.

Research into PoTS, dysautonomia and Long COVID is growing faster than ever, driven by the surge in post-viral illness cases worldwide. But it sits behind jargon, paywalls and academic language that leaves patients and families no better off than before they started reading.

Dysautonomia Decoded exists to change that.

What You’ll Find Here We publish twice a week. Expect plain English breakdowns of new research papers, Q&A style explainers, patient perspectives, and contributions from doctors, nutritionists and specialists working in this space.

Who Is This For? Anyone navigating dysautonomia, PoTS or Long COVID — whether you’re a patient, a carer, a parent trying to make sense of a new diagnosis, or just someone who wants scientifically sound information without needing a medical degree to understand it.

How To Get Involved Subscribe below to get new posts straight to your inbox. Dysautonomia Decoded is free to access. If you want to share your patient perspective or know a specialist who’d like to collaborate, get in touch.

Thank you for being part of this. This community is needed now more than ever.
