Was thinking about the Thymus organ, which manages the immune cells. One stage of that organ determines if an immune cell would attack to body cells and if so destroys.
The peak effectiveness of the thymus is in the teenage years and it declines steadily. Maybe that is one origin of autoimmune disease.
